Night Before the Light
in a life of many loves
she was the one
winds whistled
rains poured
as she lit the fire
that calmed my soul
in a life of many loves
there was only one
when I stood like a rock
she moved me
when I shook all over
she soothed me
moments were memories
etched (if they could be)
in BOLD
the meaning untold
in a whirl
of passing thoughts
warming where
there once was cold
in a life
of love
she still stands
there
tall
wonderous
memory of love
from long ago past
I know and knew then
that as toes touched
under the table
at a Blues cafe
an electric invitation
so personal
so profound
lighting fireworks
that still fire
in my sky
